Find something you love to do
Southampton scrapstore is run almost solely by volunteers. This helps us keep the running costs down and adds to the charm of the store. Some of our volunteers have been with us for the whole 35 years we have been running, other join us to fill gaps in their employment or as a steeping stone into other work places.
Whether you are looking for a permanent volunteer role or just on a temporary basis, we welcome any volunteer contributions to the scrapstore.
Front of house we have our till operators, who welcome you to the store and take any payments. Behind the scenes there are so many roles to be completed it is hard to mention them all. From hands on scrap sorting, tidying and making sure the store is compliant to health and safety, to making crafts packs and items to sell at our events.
We have volunteers who help in the office and also volunteers who help with social media. Right now, what we would really love, is some help with our website, as a make over is much needed. Contact us now for an application form.
The Scrapstore Committee
Do you have great ideas and want to contribute to a community cause?
Southampton Scrapstore is looking for new trustees to serve on the management committee and take this wonderful local 35 year old charity forward, hopefully for another 35 years.
“Trustees ensure their charity has a clear strategy, and that its work and goals are in line with its vision. A trustee’s role in a charity is to be the ‘guardians of purpose’, making sure that all decisions put the needs of the beneficiaries first. ” https://reachvolunteering.org.uk/guide/become-trustee
There are a variety of roles we need help with, from fund raising to admin, strategy planning to event management. Working with our coordinator to ensure the smooth running of the charity.
These roles can be completed remotely, with meetings taking place on zoom. Meaning your contribution can be made from the comfort and safety of your home.
Commitments are made yearly at our AGM and it is a great voluntary role to enhance your CV.
Our annual AGM will take place on the 29th July at 7.30pm via Zoom
