Volunteering with us

Southampton Scrapstore is run entirely by volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds, sharing a passion for sustainability and creativity.

No experience to join us is necessary as full training is given.

We have volunteers who help us in all areas of the store including front of house till operators; a customer facing position which includes welcoming people to the store, assisting with membership enquiries and take any payments. We also have a fabric room which requires a customer facing volunteers to help members choose and cut fabric, price and bag their items for the till staff.

For volunteers who would rather not be customer facing, there is hands on scrap sorting in our two back rooms, tidying, stocking shelves and making sure the store is compliant to health and safety.

We also have volunteers who lend creative help at our community workshops.

Southampton Scrapstore is looking for new trustees to serve on the management committee and take this wonderful local 35 year old charity forward…hopefully for another 35 years.

There are a variety of roles we need help with, from fund raising to admin, strategy planning to event management. Working with our coordinator to ensure the smooth running of the charity.

These roles can be completed remotely, with meetings taking place on zoom. Meaning your contribution can be made from the comfort and safety of your home. Commitments are made yearly at our AGM and it is a great voluntary role to enhance your CV.
